Recent Turkish advances in Northern Syria, as well as shifting focus from the US, have placed the region in a situation of deep political instability and have marked the opening of another bloody chapter in the Syrian Conflict.
Ms Ahmed discussed the latest developments in Northern Syria and exploring possibilities for political reconciliation.
Ms Ahmed currently serves as Co-Chair of the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC), a coalition of multiethnic organisations representing the peoples of the federal region of northern Syria. The SDC is the political arm of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), which has been allied with the United States Armed Forces in the struggle against ISIS and global terrorism. Ahmed is the most recognisable and central figures for the regional authority, and has appeared on many TV news programs, in publications such as The Washington Post and Foreign Policy Magazine, and has authored op-eds in The New York Times and other publications.
