Following the success of the first event in RUSI’s Conflict, War and Culture Series, ‘Hollywood: Fantasy Wars and Real Wars’, the second event saw actor and BAFTA winning documentary maker Ross Kemp and Bryn Parry, Co-Founder of Help for Heroes, in conversation with RUSI Director-General Michael Clarke about their relationship with the military and how the front line affects everyone who goes to it.
Ross Kemp has walked along the road to recovery with a number of British service personnel. In this unique event he will share some new dimensions of his experiences on the front line in Afghanistan during Operation Herricks 6, 7 and 9 in the making of his landmark TV series; the effect of seeing men wounded and coming home with them; the way it affected his commitment to help them walk that road to recovery, and his role, as an actor, with a charity such as Help for Heroes.
Bryn Parry, the Co-Founder of Help for Heroes, served with the Royal Green Jackets and became a professional cartoonist. He has used his cartoons both to describe the charity’s work and to engage other members of the arts world in it.
